Helping Hands for Women Organization (HHWO), through the Womenโs Access, Dignity, and Advancement (WADA) Project supported by UN Women, successfully established and operationalized the Badakhshan Carpet Weaving Center in Faizabad, Badakhshan Province.
The center was created to support women carpet weavers by providing a safe and organized workspace, technical equipment, and opportunities for collective production and income generation.
HHWO constructed a dedicated weaving hangar and equipped the center with:
โข Carpet weaving looms
โข Yarn spinning machines
โข Carpet washing and shearing machines
โข Raw materials and weaving tools
โข Technical equipment and workspace facilities
Currently, around 25โ35 women and girls are actively working in the center, collectively producing carpets and strengthening women-led economic activities in Badakhshan Province. The center is managed through a women-led committee established under the WADA structure to ensure sustainability, transparency, and collective leadership.
The Badakhshan Carpet Weaving Center now serves as an important hub for women artisans, creating opportunities for skills development, collaboration, and sustainable livelihoods.
