Helping Hands for Women Organization (HHWO) successfully completed the EVAW Project in Takhar and Badakhshan from 11 March to 10 August 2026, exceeding its targets and delivering integrated support in MHPSS, social awareness and women’s economic empowerment.

The project provided 8,739 individual and 3,977 group counselling sessions to women and girls, while 35,264 women and girls were reached through health awareness activities, strengthening their psychosocial well-being, resilience and access to health information.

Through community dialogues, GALS, school activities, SBC sessions, engagement with religious leaders and influencers, and bulk SMS, the project reached 14,016 people, of which 6,695 women and 7,321 men, promoting positive family relationships, women’s dignity, rights and the prevention of violence.

The livelihood component assessed 742 women and girls and supported 180 women, 90 in each province with business training and one time business startup assets to establish or strengthen small businesses such as tailoring, Raghza weaving and handicrafts.

Overall, the project strengthened the well-being, resilience, awareness and economic opportunities of women and girls, while contributing to more supportive and resilient families and communities in Takhar and Badakhshan.
